A story to read together

## The Three Little Pigs

Take your time. Let the story unfold.

Three little pigs set out to build homes of their own. They wanted safe places to
rest and play. The first pig gathered straw, the second collected sticks, and the
third saved time to build a strong brick house.

Chapter one

### Three different houses

The first pig finished quickly and went to sing. The second pig built a little longer,
then hurried off to play. The third pig laid each brick carefully and checked the
walls.

Chapter two

### A safer place

The first pig ran to the house of sticks. The wolf followed and blew until the sticks
fell apart. Both pigs hurried to their brother’s brick house.

Chapter three

### A new plan

The wolf searched for another way inside, but the pigs had closed the fireplace
and asked a nearby farmer for help. The farmer called the village ranger.

Chapter four

### Building together

The first two pigs learned how to build stronger homes. Their brother showed them
how to make a good plan and take time to do careful work.

**Read it together**

If children enjoy building, follow reading with a simple block or paper construction
challenge and discuss which designs feel sturdy.

## After the final page

There is no single right answer. Invite young readers to notice, wonder and imagine.

Remember

How are the three houses different?

Think

What makes one house hold up better than another?

Imagine

How did the building materials affect each house?

**Make something:** Design a home for one pig using paper, blocks or drawing. Label
what makes it safe and sturdy.
