Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
โ Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Once upon a time, there lived a beautiful princess named Snow White. She had skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and hair as black as ebony. Her mother, the Queen, had died when Snow White was very young, and her father, the King, remarried a vain and wicked woman.
This new Queen was Snow White’s stepmother, and she was very jealous of Snow White’s beauty. The Queen had a magic mirror, and every day she would ask it, “Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?” As long as the mirror replied that the Queen was the fairest, she was happy.
But one day, the mirror answered, “You, O Queen, are fair, it is true. But Snow White is fairer than you.” The Queen was furious and plotted to get rid of Snow White.
She ordered a huntsman to take Snow White into the woods and kill her. But the huntsman couldn’t bring himself to do it. He left Snow White in the woods, hoping she would get lost and never return. To make it look like he had obeyed the Queen, he brought her the heart of a deer.
Lost and frightened, Snow White wandered through the woods until she came to a small cottage. She was tired and hungry, so she went inside. The cottage belonged to seven dwarfs named Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy, and Dopey. They were miners who worked in the nearby mountains.
When the dwarfs came home, they found Snow White asleep in their beds. She woke up and told them her story, and the kind dwarfs took pity on her and let her stay with them.
Meanwhile, believing Snow White was dead, the Queen again asked her magic mirror who was the fairest. To her horror, the mirror replied that Snow White was still alive and living with the seven dwarfs. The Queen was enraged.
Disguised as an old peddler woman, the Queen went to the dwarfs’ cottage. She offered Snow White a beautiful, poisoned apple. Snow White, trusting the old woman, took a bite and fell into a deep, death-like sleep.
When the dwarfs returned, they found Snow White lying motionless. They were heartbroken and, believing her to be dead, placed her in a glass coffin.
One day, a handsome prince was riding through the woods and saw Snow White in her glass coffin. He was so struck by her beauty that he couldn’t leave. He kissed her, and by a stroke of fate, the poisoned apple dislodged from Snow White’s throat, and she awoke.
The Prince and Snow White fell in love and were soon married. The wicked Queen was invited to the wedding, and when she saw Snow White, she was filled with rage and died. Snow White and the Prince lived happily ever after.
