Once upon a time, a countryman and his wife had the good fortune to possess a Goose which laid a Golden Egg every day. Lucky though they were, they soon began to think that they were not getting rich fast enough.
They imagined that the Goose must be made of gold inside, and that if they killed it they would get all the treasure at once. So the countryman and his wife decided to kill the Goose.
But when they cut it open, they found that its insides were like that of any other goose!
Thus, the foolish pair got nothing, not even the one Golden Egg a day which they had been getting.
Moral of the Story: Those who want too much often lose everything.
