Grammar is the backbone of the English section, and it is where careful preparation pays off most. This course covers the complete APTET English grammar syllabus in ten exam-focused lessons: parts of speech, transitive and intransitive verbs, order of adjectives, articles, subject–verb agreement, tenses, helping verbs and modals, Wh-questions, voice, reported speech, types of sentences, degrees of comparison, linkers, language functions, and all the clause types including if-clauses Type 1 and 2.
Section C (Language II: English) of APTET 2026 Paper I(A) carries 30 marks: 24 for content and 6 for teaching methodology. Grammar questions test rules directly (choose the correct passive form, find the error) and through classroom situations.
What you will learn

- Apply subject–verb agreement rules and choose the right tense for any situation
- Use helping verbs and modals with correct forms, contractions and negatives, and frame Wh-questions
- Convert active to passive voice and direct to indirect speech for all sentence types
- Identify and convert sentence types and degrees of comparison, and use linkers for cohesion
- Recognise main, subordinate, noun, adverbial, relative, participle and non-finite clauses, and use if-clauses
