THE CURIOSI · EXPLORE & TRY
Read the arrows: food → eater
Explore the model, then test your understanding. Select each numbered stop to discover its role.
1Grass
Grass uses sunlight to make food. It is the producer in this example.
2Grasshopper
A grasshopper eats grass and receives stored energy from it.
3Frog
A frog eats the grasshopper and receives energy from its food.
4Snake
A snake may eat the frog. These are example relationships, not every species’ diet.
Simplified model: real ecosystems have more connections. Food-chain arrows show energy moving from food to eater; nutrient-cycle arrows describe material transfer.
