Puss in Boots
Take your time. Let the story unfold.
When a miller died, his youngest child received a clever cat as his share. The young man worried that a cat could not help him earn a living. The cat asked for a pair of boots and a small bag, promising to make a plan.
Boots and a plan
Puss put on the boots and used the bag to catch rabbits. He brought the king gifts and said they came from the Marquis of Carabas, the name he had chosen for his owner.
A journey through the fields
As the carriage passed, Puss greeted the king and said the fields belonged to his master. The farmers, who had been helped by Puss, joined the story and welcomed the travelers.
The castle challenge
Puss arrived at a castle owned by a proud ogre who could change shape. The cat praised the ogre’s magic and asked if he could become as small as a mouse.
A clever new beginning
The king learned that the young man was not a rich marquis, but he also saw that he was thoughtful and brave. Puss admitted that some of his story had been made up.
