🚀 Rhyme Rocket: Explorer User Guide

Welcome to the Rhyme Rocket mission control! This guide is designed to help you and your students get the most out of this rhyming adventure. It is optimized for Grade 1 literacy centers.

🎯 Learning Objectives

Phonological Awareness: Identifying and matching ending sounds in word families.
Decoding: Recognizing CVC (Consonant-Vowel-Consonant) and common word patterns.
Listening Skills: Using auditory cues to confirm rhyming matches.

🕹️ How to Play

1. Mission Briefing (The Start Screen)

When the game opens, students will see the Top Explorers leaderboard. This shows the best scores saved on that device.
Tap the big green START MISSION button to begin.

2. Identify the Target Word

At the top of the screen, a yellow target box will show a word (e.g., CAT).
The game will automatically say, “Find words that rhyme with CAT.”
Tip: If the student forgets the word, they can tap the yellow box at any time to hear it again.

3. Fueling the Rocket

Words will begin to float down from the top of the screen like falling stars.
The Goal: Tap only the words that rhyme with the target word.
- Correct Rhyme: The word turns Green, the rocket pulses, and you get +10 points and 10% fuel.
- Wrong Word: The word turns Red, and you lose -5 points and 5% fuel.
Speech Support: Every time a word is tapped, the rocket “speaks” the word so the student can hear the rhyme.

4. Blast Off!

Once the Fuel Gauge reaches 100%, the rocket ignition starts!
The rocket will fly off into deep space, and the mission is complete.

5. The Leaderboard

After the rocket blasts off, students can enter their name (up to 8 letters).
If their score is high enough, they will see their name on the Top Explorers list for the next player to see!

💡 Teacher Tips for the Classroom

The “Sound Check” Strategy: Encourage students to tap a word and listen to it before they decide if it rhymes. This prevents “guessing” and encourages active listening.
Word Family Focus: The game covers five major word families: -at, -ig, -un, -en, and -op.
Volume Control: Ensure tablets or computers are set to a comfortable volume so students can hear the Speech Synthesis, or provide headphones for a focused “Listening Station.”
