Sleeping Beauty is a story about A princess who is cursed to fall into a deep sleep, along with her kingdom, and is awakened by a prince’s kiss.
The Birth and the Curse
Long ago, in a far-off kingdom, a king and queen rejoiced at the birth of their beautiful daughter, Aurora. To celebrate, they held a grand christening party. During the party, fairies arrived to bestow gifts upon the newborn princess, offering blessings of beauty, grace, and kindness. However, Maleficent, an evil fairy whom they had not invited, appeared. She was furious at being overlooked. Consequently, Maleficent cursed the baby, declaring that on Aurora’s sixteenth birthday, she would prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die.
Fortunately, the last fairy, who had not yet given her gift, could not completely undo the curse. Instead, she softened it. Aurora would not die, but fall into a deep sleep. That sleep, she announced, would last for a hundred years, until true love’s kiss awakened her.
The Sleeping Kingdom
Despite the fairies’ attempts to protect her, on Aurora’s sixteenth birthday, she pricked her finger on a spinning wheel. Just as Maleficent had foretold, she fell into a deep slumber. Subsequently, the entire kingdom fell asleep with her.
Years passed. Eventually, a thicket of thorns hid the castle. Many tried to reach the sleeping princess, but none could penetrate the thorny barrier.
The Prince’s Quest and The Awakening
One day, a brave and handsome prince named Phillip heard the legend of the sleeping beauty. He determined to find her. With courage and the help of the good fairies, he battled his way through the thorns and entered the enchanted castle. He found Aurora in a deep sleep. Her beauty moved him, and he kissed her. At that moment, the curse broke! Aurora awoke, and with her, the entire kingdom.
Happily Ever After
Finally, Prince Phillip and Aurora fell in love and soon married. They lived happily ever after, and Maleficent’s evil curse was finally defeated.
