Number Explorer

Number Explorer (Numbers 1–100) — Overview and Guide

What it is?

Number Explorer is an interactive learning tool for numbers 1–100 that combines visual dots, spoken audio, word form, and filters to help children build strong number sense through play and guided activities. It works on smart boards, tablets, and laptops with no login or setup.

Core features

  • Clickable number grid (1–100): tap any number to explore details.

  • Visual dot representation: tens-and-ones grouping for every number.

  • Audio pronunciation: one-click “Listen” for clear number names.

  • Word form display: shows the number in words (e.g., 57 — fifty-seven).

  • Smart filters: All, Even, Odd, Prime.

  • Student-friendly UI: designed to hold attention and encourage exploration.

  • Instant access: no login, no setup.

How to use (quick steps)

  1. Open Number Explorer — a 1–100 grid appears.

  2. Click a number to view:

    • The digit,

    • The number name in words,

    • Dot groups (tens & ones).

  3. Click Listen to hear the number pronounced.

  4. Apply filters to show only Even, Odd, or Prime numbers.

  5. Explore, repeat, and use fullscreen for classroom display.

Learning benefits

  • Place value understanding via tens/ones dot groups.

  • Even/odd identification and skip-counting readiness.

  • Intro to primes and factor thinking.

  • Improved pronunciation, listening, and number-word connections.

  • Stronger attention, memory, pattern recognition, and problem-solving.

Classroom activities and lesson ideas

  • Number of the Day: students select a number; discuss name, tens/ones, even/odd, and listen.

  • Dot grouping demo: use a number like 47 to show 4 tens and 7 ones.

  • Even/Odd Sorting Game: toggle filters and ask students why a number is even or odd.

  • Prime Number Hunt (Class 3+): activate Prime filter, identify primes, compare with composites.

  • Skip Counting Practice: use even or other sequences to count by 2s, 5s, 10s.

  • Pair/Group Work: one student clicks a number, another reads it, a third explains its type.

  • Assessment/Exit Ticket: ask students to find a number, say its name, and classify it.

Home learning ideas

  • Daily number exploration: short guided sessions using Listen and dot visuals.

  • Bedtime counting: visual dot groups make counting tangible.

  • Family math challenges: find all primes below 50, or race to spot even numbers.

  • Audio repetition games: repeat numbers after Listen to strengthen pronunciation.

Prime number activities (simple)

  • Find all primes from 1–100 and highlight patterns.

  • Compare prime vs composite numbers.

  • Practice identifying numbers divisible only by 1 and themselves.

  • Challenge: “Click all prime numbers below 20.”

  • Practice skip counting by 2s.

  • Compare even and odd sequences to spot patterns.

  • Challenge: “Find the largest even number in the grid.”

Teacher tips and best practices

  • Start with small groups of numbers for beginners.

  • Pair audio Listen with dot counting and physical manipulatives.

  • Encourage students to explain observed patterns in their own words.

  • Use fullscreen for whole-class instruction on smart boards.

  • Gradually introduce primes and multiplication foundations from even-number patterns.

  • Use interactive challenges and quizzes to check understanding.

Recommended classes

  • LKG (guided), UKG, Class 1–2: number recognition, counting, place value basics.

  • Class 3: prime numbers introduction, deeper place value.

  • Class 4–5: revision, patterns, and preparing for multiplication concepts.

Implementation notes

  • Works well as Digital Teaching Learning Material (TLM) and for NEP 2020 experiential learning.

  • Suitable for individual practice, small-group activities, or full-class demonstration.

  • Helps reduce early math anxiety by combining visual, auditory, and hands-on approaches.
